Rat City Rollergirls

A craze that is sweeping roller rinks from New York to Southern California is the revival of Roller Derby, the somewhat fake, somewhat real but always hard hitting phenomenon of the 70's. Seattle's very own Rat City Rollergirls have been plugging away and preparing and finally will kick off their inaugural season on March 26th at the Southgate Roller Rink.

With team names like the Derby Liberation Front, Grave Danger, Sockit Wenches and the Throttle Rockets, how can you possibly go wrong? Teams are composed of 12 or so kick-ass women complete with names like Ida Slapter, Sybil Unrest and Cherry Jubilee. All the girls are tough as hell, tattooed and sexy in a punk rock, Suicide Girls kind of way that I'm personally a fan of.

The matches should be a blast. Not only do you get the fast-paced action of Roller Derby but it sounds like it's going to be a big spectacle with music and crazy announcers and participation and all of that good stuff. I'm really looking forward to the first match on the 26th, although it sounds like it might end up being a pretty touch ticket to come by.

And I love their logo. It tells you everything you need to know about the league. It's got a mean looking, tough as nails, sexy girl ready to kick some ass. What more could you possibly ask for from a league for mean, tough, sexy girls ready to kick some ass?
